IT consulting and software products

Your systems.
Your call.

We plan and build infrastructure. Then we run it, which is the part most consultancies hand back at go live. That happens on hardware you own or in the cloud, and the same people write and license two commercial products that are in production now.

IT consulting

No house answer on cloud or on-premises.

Ask three suppliers where a workload should run and you get three answers that match what each of them sells. We look at the workload first. Some end up on hardware you own and some are better off in the cloud, and whoever makes that call is still here a year later to live with it.

Infrastructure and virtualization

Servers, virtualization, storage, backup, disaster recovery. We size capacity against what the workload actually does in production; a reference architecture is a starting point and nothing more. Restores get run before anyone depends on them working.

Cloud and hybrid

Migration planning, and then the migration itself. Cloud infrastructure that we go on operating afterward, plus hybrid designs for the parts of an environment that are staying where they are. Microsoft 365 and the other SaaS platforms get configured, wired into the directory, administered.

Software development

Applications built to requirement and integrated with whatever is already in service. Often the honest answer is that something you have covers most of the need, in which case the work is the integration and we will tell you so. When nothing covers it, we build the application.

Consulting and operational support

System administration and support, remote and onsite. Also the decisions that come before it: what to buy, what to switch off, what to keep in house. Almost nobody gets asked to write the switch-off list.

Software products

Two products we wrote ourselves.

Both were written by the same people who run the consulting side, and both install inside the customer's environment, which is how they are built rather than a philosophical position about where software ought to live. If you want to check whether we ship, the two links below go to the products.

Lima

Digital signage management

Screens get bought from whichever supplier held the contract that year, and every maker ships a console that administers its own brand and nothing else. Lima runs all of them from one place, including the panels already on the wall. Licensed per installation. There is no monthly fee per screen.

Saga

Training, assessment, and certification

A completion record names an employee and states what they were required to know, which makes it personnel data in most organizations. Saga delivers the training and grades it on submission. Certification is issued without anyone touching it, and every record stays on the customer's own infrastructure. Sign-in is through the directory, and the multi-factor step cannot be switched off by anybody, the administrator included.

Both products are commercially licensed. Terms are set per deployment and discussed on request.

Structure

Why we did not stay a consultancy.

A consultancy that only advises never has to live with the advice, so the advice is free to be elegant. We do not have that luxury. Two of our own products are in production and under support, which means somebody here picks up when one of them breaks at an inconvenient hour, and it is the same somebody who sat in the meeting where an architecture was chosen. Customers usually arrive for one side of the company and end up using both, though we would not put weight on that, since we cannot show you their names.

Contact

Tell us what you need to build or to run.

Describe the requirement and we will come back with an assessment of the work: a product license, an infrastructure project, ongoing support, or occasionally the news that you do not need us for this one.

Inquiries are answered within one business day. Nothing submitted through this form is added to a mailing list or shared with third parties.
